Grandfather clocksfurniture-workshop - Clocks and Lighting
Grandfather clocks I absolutely love grandfather clocks and wish that I had one in my home. Unfortunately they are just too expensive for me to purchase one. My great-aunt had one in her home for years and when she passed away it was handed down to my cousin. Does anyone know of a place that sell these less than $1000?
I like the look of grandfather clocks but I am not sure I would like one in my house. I don't like the sound every hour that they make. My mother had this wall clock that made a very loud noise ever half hour. On the hour it did the chimmed the hour that it was and then on the half hour it chimmed once. I remember one winter they went to their Florida house and I lived in their house that winter, the first thing I did was stop that clock. For 6 months it was 4:15 lol. I think grandfather clocks are beautiful to look at and the woodwork on some of them is beautiful but I don't think I could handle the noise. I believe I am scarred from that blasted clock my mother had. :)
Hey Cornelia! I just googled and found this one website that deals with sales for grandfather clocks. I found some under 1, 000! Here's the link :)
Snowbird -Thank you so much for that site!! Now I just have to convince my hubby that we need one. LOL.
Although I do like grandfather clocks, it's not something that I think would fit in with the decor of my home. I live in the southwest and have more of a southwest decor. A grandfather clock just wouldn't fit in.
My parents have had an antique grandfather clock on the mantle for as long as I can remember. I don't remember if it was my grandparents'. It is so beautiful, but it hasn't always worked. They get it repaired every so often.
