| How much should I pay my friend who helped me move? A friend helped me, over a few weeks, several days a week, move a few pieces of furniture and some boxes, from my deceased parents home to a close storage unit (2 miles) and a few items to my home (3 miles). We used my vehicle. I helped with all the lifting/carrying. And we fed him dinner 3 times. Twice he arrived late and the truck was already loaded so he just unloaded at storage. Some items had to be moved from upstairs and the truck is a 4X4. He helped fill about 30% of a 2 car garage size storage unit. I worked completely around his schedule, not mine. What is appropriate pay? His business partner says moving companies get $80/hour plus moving up/down stairs/per stair. I believe this is excessive. What is reasonable? I don't want to underpay and I don't want to be overcharged. |
