• Page 1 (Original Post) • The last couple garage sales I have had I was selling couches and they never sold. They were in great condiiton. I ended up just donating them to Goodwill. Comment #1 Red from USA - My neighbor and I just had a garage sale this past summer and we both sold a bunch of furniture including my couch. I let it go for dirt cheap though. My husband said I would rather sell it for 10 bucks than have to drag it back in the house again. There was a lady in town that didn't have a lot so I let the couch go for a whopping 5 bucks. I was just glad to get rid of it. I also sold my kitchen table and chairs and a recliner. My neighbor sold 2 rocking chairs. She ended up selling them for quite a bit of money. She was even suprised. I found that when you advertise including what you have for sale helped out a lot. I had a huge lot of baby clothes and someone came and bought all of them. We put our big ticket items in really big letter on our posters. It worked out ok but I wish I would have sold everything. Garage sales take so much time to get ready for and then when you have to bring stuff back into the house doesn't thrill me at all. Comment #2 Snowbird (1) from the land of cheese - Usually if i don't manage to sell everything at my garage sale, i just end up leaving the stuff outside with a big "EVERYTHING FOR FREE!!" sign and pray that somebody takes the rest of the stuff before it rains heh. Usually it works. People can't resist free stuff! Comment #3 Jo Jo from Tucson, Arizona - I had a garage sale just this past October and was selling a recliner and loveseat. I put an ad in the paper for it as well and no one called on it or even really seemed interested it in. I ended up giving it to Goodwill. I probably should have put a FREE sign on it!! Comment #4 TexasGal from Dallas, Texas - The last garage sale we had a couple came along and offered us $200 for everything. This included my entire Mary Kay inventory and all our VHS movies. TexasGuy took it. I was livid. I knew the couple was just going to take our stuff to the swap meet and actually make money on it. DH was happy to rid of it all and done with our sale. Comment #5 Dyshieke (98.16.8.75) - I have a small loft and I have too much stuff, especially baby clothes. I have girl clothes from 6mos to 24mos (designer onesies, jeans, skirts, coats, shirts, dresses, shoes and toys! Whew! I have to get rid of before it continues to grow. Help! Interested persons send a msg. Oooh, I almost forgot to mention the household items/home decor on sale. • Page 1 (Original Post) •
